The Showdown And Conclusion

If by the end of the whole play there are still two or more opponents who are still in it, we will go to a showdown according to Texas Hold’em rules. Basically the players must now show their cards and the player with the highest combination of 5 cards will win the hand. This means in Texas Hold’em you do not necessarily need to use your hole cards for the combination, you can simply use all 5 community cards if it means you would win.

So what if both have the same hand? Easy, there’s a split which means the pot will be divided equally among the number of players who have the same combination of hand. It’s also important to note, the cards have all the same value. There is absolutely no difference among spade, diamond, club or heart. You can have that in a home game but when playing in a casino or online, there is no difference.

After everyone has shown their hand the cards are put back into the deck, shuffled and we move the button on spot to the left before dealing the cards. This forces a rotation so everyone will pay the blind at some point, hence the term forced bet.

You will quickly realize that the game is easy to learn but the strategies can be very complex. Add to that the unpredictability factor in every human, also known as instincts and you got yourself a very fun social game. You read right, FUN SOCIAL GAME. That’s what the game was meant to be and if ever the game becomes not fun, nor social, you might want to start considering professional counseling.

Now that you learned the basics, time to put it to the test against your friends or even playing a larger field online. If you are starting, online poker would definitely be ideal thanks to it’s very low stakes so you wouldn’t have to worry too much about it being a problem. When you become better and more comfortable, you can consider higher stakes. Higher stakes will only increase the level of excitement thanks to the payout but don’t be fooled, higher payout also mean higher risk and that is what you have to be careful about.
